How to get there

First fly to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok a journey of around 11 hours on a direct flight, before flying to Chiang Mai a journey of approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Upon arrival continue by road to the hotel taking around 20 minutes.

Best time to go

The dry season is mid October to February, when temperatures are mild and rain is scarce.

The hot season from March until mid June when the farmers do the agricultural fires on the farmland and visibility can be hazy.

The monsoon season runs from mid June to mid October

The Dining Room - The Dining Room is the hotel's main restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu features Thai and international cuisine prepared with fresh organic ingredients sourced locally. Dining is available indoors or al fresco in the courtyard next to the tropical gardens.

The Parlor Lounge - The Parlor Lounge serves classic style afternoon high tea, as the early foreign visitors enjoyed it. Mingle with the other hotel guests by the pool, sipping tea and complimentary Thai sweets.

Palette Restaurant - Located in the hotel's original teak homestead dating back to the 1800's, Palette, seats up to 20 diners (another 16 can be seated in the wine cellar and on the verandah). The menu is light and artistic, offering a selection of dishes made using locally sourced organic produce.

The Kitchen - The Kitchen is a gathering place for Thai cooking demonstrations from gourmet and visiting chefs.

Rajah Brooke Suite - The 20 Rajah Brook Suites are all larger than 70 square metres, each suite features a king bed, an airy vintage-tiled verandah and is surrounded by tropical gardens shaded by cane shades for privacy. The rooms also feature a Victorian free standing tub and indoor/outdoor showers. Interconnecting suites are available upon request.

East Borneo Suite - The six East Borneo Suites average 75 square metres and are accessible by a private corridor. Rooms come with either a king bed or two twin beds, vintage tiled verandah overlooking the tropical gardens, can shades provide privacy for those who wish to sit on the cane rattan planter's chair or loll on the day bed. The rooms also feature a Victorian free standing tub and indoor/outdoor showers.

William Bain Terrace Suite - The two William Bain Terrace Suites overlook the historic pillars house and infinity pool. The suites are 100 square metres in size and feature a bedroom with king bed, a large living room and a verandah with cane shade for privacy. The bathroom features a sunken bath overlooking the tropical foliage.

Louis Leonowens Pool Suite - The two 135 square metres Louis Leonowens Pool Suites, include a king size bed, bedroom separated by French doors and generous living room. The room also features a separate indoor/outdoor shower, sunken bath overlooking the tropical foliage. Truly relax by the suite's private 5.5 x 2.5 metre swimming pool.
