Hotel Trapp Family Lodge

Summary

The Trapp Family Lodge is a true rustic mountain lodge tucked away up a 300-metre steep hill, 10 minutes out of Monteverde town and the closest hotel to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve.

It is built in Swiss chalet style offering rooms and mountain suites all with good views of the surrounding forest and its own private reserve. All 26 rooms are simply decorated but comfortable and there is a small bar and good restaurant attached to the hotel. There are few facilities here, so please bear this in mind, however, this is a lovely place to stay for a couple of nights for those that prefer to be more isolated to really enjoy the peace of the cloud-forest.

Costa Rica experiences two distinct seasons- a wet season, which lasts from May to mid-November, and a dry season, which lasts from mid-November to April. In any given region, however, the weather is dictated not only by the season, but by elevation and proximity to the sea.

The lodge's wood-paneled restaurant provides diners and lunches with beautiful views to the cloud forest in a relaxed ambiance.

There are 20 rooms, and 8 suites. All are spacious, have 2 queen size beds, a telephone, hairdryer, safe, and an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold water. They are decorated with local artworks giving them a homely vibe. Each of the rooms has a floor to ceiling window overlooking the gardens, while the suites have balconies with views of the mountain and forest, plus additional facilities including a TV and fridge.
