Golden Island Cottages

Summary

Enjoying an idyllic location on the lake, the resort is in two halves - Nampan, which is built on stilts over the lake, and Thale U, set on the shores of the lake. Both consist of traditional style cottages made of local bamboo, and each has a private balcony from which to enjoy life on the lake.

September & October would be the favoured time to visit with the average temperature is 25°C at this time. Rainy season is in July & August.

Our thoughts

This is a great place to unplug and de-stress. The rooms do not have TVs and the WiFi can be a little sketchy which gives you time out from the modern world to really enjoy the tranquillity of the lake, the beauty of the natural surrounds and immerse yourself in Burmese culture.

The restaurant specialises in traditional Myanmar and Chinese cuisine, buffet and a la carte dining are available. The wooden terrace and poolside areas are ideal to enjoy breakfast, lunch, high-tea and snacks.

The resort is in two halves - Nampan, which is built on stilts over the lake, and Thale U, set on the shores of the lake. All cottages are built on stilts from tropical hardwoods in the traditional way. All of the rooms feature excellent views, have private balconies and a fully equipped bathroom.
