Amangalla is an elegantly beautiful and historic boutique hotel within the ramparts of the 17th century Galle Fort. The suites feature high ceilings, overhead fans, cooling verandas, and a 200 year old garden making this the most desired hotel in the neighbourhood. Despite being over 150 years old, the hotel is not dated by any means. The resort offers a wide range of facilities including an exceptional spa, pool, and library so you can rest and recuperate in style. There is so much to see and do in the nearby area, including various treks and visits to the temples, there really is something to suit everyone when you stay at the Amangalla.

Sri Lanka has generally good weather year round but does have two monsoon seasons in two different regions. From late May to late September, the southwest lowlands and central hills are affected and from November to February, the northeast side of the island is affected. March to mid-April is generally dry throughout the country as is June to September though it is hot.

This resort is located on a cobbled street in the historic city of Galle overlooking rampart walls, Galle Harbour and the Indian Ocean. This resort is an ideal base for local exploring as well as for indulging in the Spa and restaurants on the property.

The Dining Room - The Dining Room is furnished with colonial accents with period pieces such as tables and chairs, crisp white linen, antique silverware, and many of the original pieces. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and provides a choice between traditional Sri Lankan curry or home cooked dishes.
The Zahl - The Zahl is located at the entry point to the resort an features light meals and snacks in the morning while afternoon tea is served daily. The restaurant has a colonial ambience with high ceilings, overhead fans, and chandeliers and has seating within as well as on the veranda.
Bed Room - The Bed Rooms are comprised of a separate bedroom and bathroom with views overlooking either the garden or nearby historic Groote Kerk.
Chamber - Chambers feature separate bedrooms, bathrooms and living areas with views of either the fort and sea or the gardens.
Suite - Suites feature a separate bedroom, bathroom, and spacious living room with views of the fort and sea or the gardens.
Amangalla Suite - The Amangalla Suite features two bedrooms, hallway, sitting room, and two bathrooms with a view of the garden.
The Garden House - The two storey Garden House features original antique furniture, private terrace, balcony with treetop views, and a 24 hour private butler.

The resort welcomes children and offers free babysitting services with board games, children's books and free cricket lessons for older kids. However, the hotel pool is ungated and the property has many access steps and antiques adorn the rooms, so not ideal for small children.
