Best of Vietnam Itinerary
May 5th - 6th: Hanoi
Our Best of Vietnam Tour has been exploring the sites and food of Hanoi for the first three days! From the Presidential Palace, Temple of Litterature, sampling some Vietnamese food to doing a cyclo tour in the Old Quarter, they have had a ball (their words not ours!).
May 8th - 12th: Hue & Hoi An
On the second leg of their Vietnam escorted tour, the group has been travelling through Hue & Hoi An. They explore the charming city of Hoi An walking through the streets of Hoi An, over the Japanese covered bridge & to the stunning Fukian Assembly Hall. In Hue a beautiful cruise on a dragon boat on the Perfume River. The Perfume River (or Hương Giang or Sông Hương), is fragrant in the autumn when the flowers in the orchards upriver lose their blossoms into the water. The group also visited the Khai Dinh Royal Tomb built for Khải Định, the twelfth Emperor of the Nguyễn dynasty. The tomb is a blend of Western and Eastern architecture. Finally, the tour visited the UNESCO World Heritage Site of My Son Temple for a brush with historical brilliance.
May 13th - 15th: Ho Chi Minh
On the third leg of their Vietnam adventure, the group explored Ho Chi Minh City with its old world alleys & incense-infused temples. This city is a blend of two worlds, a buzzing vibrant city that has plenty of culture to soak up against the backdrop of some intense & complex history. They explored the Củ Chi tunnels, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office, before taking a short drive to the former Presidential Palace. They also got to experience Saigon’s famed street coffee culture and enjoyed a unique evening including dinner at the Henry Cabot Lodge, home to the US Ambassador to South Vietnam in the 1960s!
