The Best and Worst Airports for Budget Flights in the USA
The majority of seasoned travellers have their own tricks to find the best deals on flights, however, the reality is that no matter how many Google flight alerts you decide to set up, some airports offer cheaper international flights than others. To ensure you are getting the best deal for your flights, we have put together a collection of the best and worst airports for a budget-friendly adventure.
Much like many of you would expect the bigger and the busier the airport, the cheaper the international flights. The cheapest of them all being the John F Kennedy Airport in New York with over 400 deals last year. The following five being Los Angeles International (353), General Edward Lawrence Logan in Bostan (342), San Francisco International (336), Newark Liberty International in New Jersey (330), and Washington Dulles International Airport (246). Out of the top 10 airports in the USA are three Florida airports, including Miami International Airport (295), Orlando International Airport (226), and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (219), making Florida the most budget-friendly state.
At the other end of the scale for the least deal-friendly airports were the smaller ones, due to their lack of international flights. So, instead of limiting your search to the nearest airport to you, look for deals from the larger, nearby airports, and then book a separate connecting flight to get you there. The extra effort could save you an average of $550 dollars!
It is important to remember that you have 24 hours to cancel a flight out of the U.S. with a full refund, so when it comes to flight deals, it's best to book first and plan later.
