The Best Time To Buy Airline Tickets
There has always been a lot of here say about when is the best time to book a flight. It can be that you need to book on a Tuesday at 3 pm, or you must book least two months before you fly or you should always look for a deal and fly at the very last minute. All of these myths and legends may have some truth behind them however, it really comes down to what season you are flying and where you are going. We have talked to the experts in airfare and found out when it really is the best time to buy an airline ticket.
When to Book Your Flights For Spring
Depending on where you are based, spring break can fall all over the calendar for travellers, which means airfares do not rocket up on specific days unlike holidays such as Christmas. Nevertheless, this doesn't mean you can leave your flights to the last minute. It has been found that in order to get the best price for your flight you should book 84 days in advance. When booking last minute or just two weeks before your departure date you could see an increase of at least £40 per person.
When to Book Your Flights For Summer
When booking for summer you really need to plan ahead, 99 days ahead exactly. Studies have found that the cheapest air flights for your summer holiday are 99 days out from your departure. It is always wise to book your flights for peak season at least five weeks ahead of your departure, however, ask you can expect these fares are never cheap.
When to Book Your Flights For Autumn
Unlike summer you have a little more flexibility when it comes to booking flights for the autumn months. It is suggested that you should book your flights around 66 days ahead of departure. Be aware, flights are relatively inexpensive during shoulder season, but when it comes to dates after Halloween they skyrocket.
When To Book Your Flights For Winter
Similar to travelling in summer, winter flights need as much pre-planning. It is best to book 94 days out of your departure for the best deals when it comes to Christmas and New Year.
If you are Travelling to Europe
Summer fares to Europe are the cheapest they have been in three years if you are willing to really plan ahead. The best flight deals for travel are in early June, late August and September, if you are searching for the best deal you should try to book 160 days outside of your departure.
If you are Travelling to Asia
Flights to Asia are at their best around 120 days from your departure. Fortunately, you do have a lot of flexibility when it comes to booking as the prime booking window when flights are low and aren't fluctuating too much, is nearly six months long. The best time for the cheapest fares is in June, so book according to your travel plans.
If you are Travelling to Africa
This is the destination where you really want to plan far in advance, for accommodation and flights. For the least expensive flights, book between three and six months out from your departure. To be precise, the best day to book is 199 days before departure, with the cheapest month to fly being February.
The Best Day of the Week to Buy Airline Tickets
Again, the urban myth of finding lower fare by booking on a particular day is not strictly true. It has been found that Tuesdays and Wednesdays have the best fares for domestic flights as they are mainly used for business travellers.
While Black Friday and Cyber Tuesday may be the best days to purchase your holiday items, the following Tuesday, 27th November, is the best day for flight deals.
